IMF: GDP growth forecast for Serbia in 2018

In its report “World Economic Outlook”, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) said that the growth forecast for Serbian GDP would remain the same in 2018, i.e. at 3.5%, just like in 2017.

In the document, which was published just prior to the joint conference of the IMF and World Bank in Washington, the Fund confirmed its forecast at 3.5% for 2018.

According to the forecast, done by the IMF experts, the inflation in Serbia will amount to 3.4% this year and 3% next year, whereas the current account balances will equal -4% this year and -3.9% in 2018.

The report also projects that the unemployment rate in Serbia would stand at 16% in 2017 and that it will drop to 15.6% in 2018.

The IMF has revised the growth forecast of the world economy up by 0.1 percentage point to 3.6% and 3.7% in 2017 and 2018 respectively, noting that the upswing will probably be maintained in the next year as well.
