IKEA has completed the preparations for the beginning of the construction of the AVA Shopping Park, an outdoor retail centre that will be located next to IKEA department store in Bubanj Potok, the company has announced.
Thanks to this investment, worth over EUR 50 million, IKEA will employ an additional 400 people in Serbia, while the groundbreaking ceremony was expected to take place in early 2021, the press release says.
“We are very satisfied that, despite the difficult circumstances caused by the pandemic, we have managed to push through with what we believe is an important investment for the City of Belgrade and the local community. We have recently signed an agreement with IT Tel & Vila Grad, a local company, which will be the main contractor, and engage 800 workers in the construction. We hope that our Serbian partners, who have provided important support to the project from the very beginning, will also complete the relevant building permit procedure so that the construction work can start as soon as possible,” said Branko Mihajlov, the project manager.

AVA Shopping Park, previously known as the Belgrade Trade Centre or the Belgrade Retail Park, will span 30,000 square metres and it will house several retail outlets of world-famous brands in fashion, sports and technology.
The retail complex will be linked to the nearby motorway, and the plan is to provide access to it via the Belgrade bypass.
