Furthermore, the Serbian government and Huawei Technologies Co. have agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding stipulating the development and implementation of the Smart Cities project in Serbia.

The document’s goal is to devise a smart cities strategy through the positioning of Huawei as a strategic partner to cities and local governments in Belgrade, Nis, Novi Sad and other towns in Serbia.

“The joint effort and the mutual sharing of information will secure a platform for the development of local potential and the building of a local ecosystem in the field of digital transformation in the public, financial, education and energy sectors, as well as in the transport segment,” the government’s statement says.

The opening of the Huawei Innovation Center for Digital Transformation, as a regional centre for the Western Balkans, headquartered in Belgrade, was cited as one of the main goals of this cooperation.
