The director of the State Health Insurance Fund (RFZO), Sanja Radojevic Skodric, said today that the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine will be administered free of charge as of April this year (at the state’s expense).
According to the RFZO, this is the latest nine-valent HPV vaccine. Serbia’s decision to vaccinate against papilloma virus at the state’s expense was welcomed by the Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
“This month is Cervical Cancer Awareness month & I’m pleased to see both action & advocacy taking place. Yesterday, Serbia announced that this year they would introduce vaccination against human papillomavirus, the pathogen responsible for 99% of cervical cancers,” he wrote on his Twitter account.
