According to data collated by the Serbian Tax Administration at the end of last year, tax payers in Serbia filed 27,866 tax returns for 2019. These are people who earn more than 2.7 million dinars annually, writes the Bizlife.rs website.
Most of the “millionaires” live in Novi Beograd, a total of 4,969, while Vranje has the lowest number of millionaires – 102.
The declared income for the top 100 taxpayers with the highest earnings ranges from about 61 million dinars to about 749 million dinars, the Tax Administration says. Of the 100 highest declared incomes, 68% are taxpayers from Belgrade, 85 Serbian citizens and 15 foreigners.
These millionaires are mostly company executives, directors and engineer, and 88% are men.
After Novi Beograd, which has the highest number of millionaires, downtown Belgrade comes second, with 4,869, and while Zemun has the lowest number of millionaires – 1,522. Novi Sad comes next, with 2,993 millionaires, and Niš with 884.
After Niš, Kragujevac has the highest number of millionaires with 633, followed by Pančevo, 417, Zrenjanin, 395, Subotica, 356, Čačak, 342, Užice, 305, Sremska Mitrovica, 268, Kruševac, 225, Jagodina, 204, Zaječar, 215 and Leskovac, 179.
