Hisense Europe, part of China’s Hisense Group, said on Wednesday that it opened its third production plant in Serbia’s northern city of Valjevo, in which it has invested 45 million euros.
In the new Valjevo 3 factory, Hisense Europe will manufacture side-by-side refrigerators under the Hisense, Gorenje, and Asko brands, primarily for export to European markets, the company said in a press release.
The company will hire 1,020 workers in Valjevo over the next three years. The new factory will manufacture 750,000 units per year, with the combined output of Hisense Europe’s three factories in Valjevo expected to reach 1.7 million devices by 2025.
Hisense Luxembourg Home Appliance Holding, a member of Hisense Group, acquired a 95.42% stake in Slovenia’s household appliance manufacturer Gorenje in October 2018. Gorenje has been operating in Serbia for 17 years.
It also has production facilities in Slovenia and the Czech Republic.
