Vehicle and weapon owners will have to pay a higher tax as of this year, due to the adjustment with the consumer price index.
For instance, the tax for the automatic rifle will be 13,280 dinars this year, while last year it was 12,920, which is a 360 dinar hike. The tax on the semi-automatic rifle is 5,330 dinars and it is 150 dinars higher the last year’s one. For weapons used for personal protection, the tax this year is 3,600, and last year it was 100 dinars less.
The tax on motor vehicle use, which is payable for a period of one year, will amount now to 1,250 dinars for cars of up to 1,150 cc. For cars which engine displacement is from 1,150 to 1,300 cc, the tax will now be 2,480 dinars, while for the cars with the engine displacement from 1,300 to 1,600 cc the tax will amount to 5,470 dinars. The most expensive tax is the one for the vehicles which engine displacement exceeds 3,000 cc, and it stands at 231,930 dinars.
However, there is some good news too. If your car is older than five years, you will be eligible for discounts, as follows:
- For the cars that are between 5 and 8 years old – 15% discount
- For the cars that are between 8 and 10 years old – 25% discount
- For the cars that are older than 10 years – 40%
The owners of the cars that are over 20 years old have to pay 20% of the amount determined by the relevant regulation.
