Head of Wagner has a message for Vučić

Russia’s Yevgeny Prigozhin, Wagner’s founder, declared that currently there are no Serbian nationals in the organization.

He responded to claims made by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, who claimed otherwise. Prigozhin said, “There is not a single Serb in the Wagner PMC as of today (by March 1, 2023).

The last one that fought in the Wagner PMC departed two months ago. If any Serb claims that they fought in the Wagner PMC in 2023 – it’s a lie. Don’t trust them”.

Earlier, he said that there have not been Serbian nationals in the Wagner PMC for a long time. He made it clear that his organization “has never been in Serbia” and “had no contacts with Serbia”.

Prigozhin also said to Vučić that he should “take it a few notches down” when it comes to his claims about Serbs being active in Wagner.

Wagner PMC (Wagner Private Military Company) is a Russian paramilitary organization. It is variously described as a network of mercenaries, or a de facto private army of Russian President Vladimir Putin. The group operates beyond the law in Russia, where private military contractors are officially forbidden. The group came to prominence during the Donbas War in Ukraine.
