The Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications has announced that it will allocate non-refundable subsidies to support the hospitality and tourism industry for two consecutive months due to the difficulties caused by the pandemic.
The funds will be allocated in July and August, in the amount of 30,900.24 dinars per employee for whom the company paid wages in December last year and submitted the appropriate tax return, the relevant ministry reports.
The money is granted on a non-repayable basis and the companies that are registered with the Agency of Business Registers under the categories of restaurants and mobile catering facilities, preparation and serving of food and beverages, hotels, camping, reception facilities, caravan camping, travel agencies, tour operators, rental and leasing of cars and light motor vehicles are eligible for the grant.
A list of the 12,155 companies that have exercised their right to a subsidy is available on the Ministry’s website. The subsidy funds will be paid to beneficiaries into special dedicated dinar accounts that the Treasury will open for them.
According to the Ministry’s statement, companies lay off their workforce by over 10 per cent in the period between the entry into force of this grant programme and the expiry of the three-month period following the payment of the subsidy will have to pay back the grant money.
