Government raises fuel prices by 7 dinars per litre

The Serbian Government approved today an amendment to the Decree on capping the price of petroleum derivatives, according to which the average wholesale price of Euro diesel and Euro Premium BMB 95 unleaded petrol will go up by 7 dinars.

This regulation is valid from its entry into force today, 29 April, until 31 May of this year.

The practice of capping fuel prices was first used in February this year, with a new price for diesel and premium unleaded petrol being announced every Friday, until 1 May. This new government decision is the highest one-off increase in fuel prices in Serbia and comes “at the last minute”, before the end of the moratorium next Sunday.

Economy experts had correctly estimated that the moratorium could be extended. The government has not yet answered the question of how long the practice of capping fuel prices could last.
