Government adopts a decree on another holiday in Serbia – Cyril and Methodius Day

The Government of Serbia has adopted the Bill on Amendments to the Law on State and Other Holidays, which proposes that May 24th be the Cyril and Methodius Day (Ciril and Metodije, in Serbian), to mark the Day of Slavic Literacy.

At today’s session, the Government also adopted the Bill on the Confirmation of the Agreement between the Governments of the Participating States of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) stipulating cooperation in providing emergency assistance and urgent response to natural and man-made disasters.

According to the government announcement, the decision on the formation of the Working Group for drafting the Law on Memorial Centre “Staro Sajmiste” was adopted with the aim of never forgetting the people that perished in the Staro Sajmiste concentration camp. The adoption of this law would ensure the centralized collection, processing and provision of data on the victims.

Government members also adopted the Programme on the allocation and use of subsidies for the Agency for Traffic Safety for 2019. Funds in the amount of 66.000.000 dinars will be used towards a media awareness campaign on traffic safety, to be carried out by this agency.
