Germany’s Bizerba to open a factory in Valjevo, contract on allocation of state subsidies signed

Representatives of the Serbian Ministry of Economy and the German company Bizerba, one of the world leaders in the production of scales and a provider of hardware and software solutions in the segment of weighing, cutting and labelling technology, have signed an agreement on Bizerba receiving state investment incentives.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said, after meeting with the company’s representatives and signing the contract, that the realisation of the 30-million-euro-investment will begin in September-October this year and that the factory could become operational in the last quarter of next year.

“The construction of a 10,000-square-metre factory will begin shortly. The company will employ 300 engineers and workers of other profiles. This is a huge change for Valjevo, Mionica, Ljig, Osečina and Kosjerič, and not only for the Kolubara district,” President Vučić said.

German Ambassador to Serbia, Thomas Schieb, reminded that German companies have invested more than 2 billion euro in Serbia and that the investment trend has not stopped even during the pandemic. “Such investments, like those of Bizerba, contribute to a strong and competitive private sector in Serbia that is crucial for sustainable economic growth,” the ambassador added.

The company’s general manager, Andreas Kraut, said the company came to Serbia to stay for the long term. “We have thought well and long and want to stay in Valjevo in the coming decades,” Mr Kraut said, underlining the company’s plans to create a supplier network in Serbia not only for components and parts but for complete solutions and products.

Bizerba’ has a turnover of 730 million euro and employs a total of 4,300 people in 120 countries. It produces meat cutting machines, label printers, logistics and shipping systems, goods inspection systems and industrial software, among other things.
