Last year Germany issued the most work permits to Indians, Turks and citizens of Serbia, reports the Schengen visa info. According to the data from the German Federal Foreign Office, this country granted a total of 152,336 national work visas to foreigners in 2022, which represents a significant increase compared to 2021.
In terms of the number of permits, Indians are in the first place with 17,379 work permits, followed by Turks with a total of 12,542 work visas. In third place is Serbia, which was granted 11,792 work permits.
Apart from these three countries, last year Germany approved a large number of work permits for citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Russia, Albania and North Macedonia. In addition to work permits, Germany approved many other visas last year – a total of 393,083 visas. After work, the most numerous are permits for the union of spouses, and then also for the needs of education.
