The German company Koepfer today opened a new production plant in Smederevo and the value of the investment in the first phase is EUR 10 million. The company produces automotive components, precision engine gears, gearbox elements and complete assemblies.
“Koepfer started production here three years ago in a small rented factory, and today it moves into its own 2,600-square-metre building, from which the most technologically high-quality and modern parts for companies such as Daimler, BMW, Volkswagen, Audi and Opel will be exported,” Serbian Economy Minister Anđelka Atanasković said at the opening, the ministry’s press release states.
She said that Koepfer did not apply for incentives from the Serbian government and that it was a ‘completely greenfield project’, Beta reported. “The company’s production area in Smederevo will grow to 10,400 square metres and the investment plan exceeds EUR 30 million. Once the investment cycle and construction of the entire factory are completed, a total 250 people will work here,’ Atanasković said.
