Gas price to go up as of November 1st

Serbia’s energy regulator said on Thursday that it will increase by 10% the price of natural gas for households from November 1.

The price of natural gas following the increase will be 4.54 dinars per kWh, the Energy Agency of Serbia (AERS) said in a statement.

The natural gas price for households currently stands at 4.13 dinars per kWh, following an increase by 10% in May.

Serbia’s consumer prices rose by 11.5% year-on-year in August, after increasing by an annual 12.5% the month before, the statistical office said earlier this month.

The Government of Serbia has committed itself to raising the prices of electricity by 26% and prices of natural gas by 30% in total from May 2023 to May 2024 as part of the current stand-by arrangement with the International Monetary Fund. which approved a two-year standby arrangement for Serbia, which implies that the country gets the opportunity to withdraw loans worth EUR 2.4 billion, but also to implement certain economic and financial reforms. Most of these reforms relate to the energy sector including state-owned power utility Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS) and its equivalent for gas, Srbijagas.
