Commenting on the ongoing construction of the Novi Sad-Subotica high-speed railroad, the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Goran Vesić, said that, at the request of President Aleksandar Vučić, the Chinese subcontractors had additional machines delivered to Serbia in order to shorten the deadline for the completion of this large-scale project.
The Chinese consortium of companies China Railway International and China Communications Construction Company arrived yesterday with 36 machines – one machine for laying tracks, a roller, a two-way curtain plough for planning the curtain prism and regulation of the hammer and a diesel locomotive, two heavy locomotives, eight wagons for the transport of bulk cargo and 22 flat wagons for the transport of rails, said Vesić.
He added that all the machines will be located in two bases at the construction site of the high-speed railway, in Naumovićevo and Sajlovo.
The minister reminded that the deadline for the completion of the railroad would now be late 2024, and that the new railroad would be in operation in mid-2025. Once this is done, the commuting time between Belgrade and Budapest will be 2 hours and 45 minutes.
