“As of 1 January 2022, payment of registration fees for motor vehicles will be introduced in proportion to the market value of cars,” said Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Branislav Nedimović, presenting amendments to the Law on Taxes on the Use, Storage and Transport of Goods.
“I think this law will meet with great approval. The biggest change concerns cars and other vehicles between 5 and 20 years old that are over 2,000cc. They will pay a lower registration fee,” said Nedimović. According to him, currently, the tax on the use of motor vehicles, which is paid at registration, is reduced for all vehicles according to their age by 15, 25 or 40 per cent.
Observed by categories, for vehicles from five to eight years old, the tax reduction will be 25%, instead of the current 15%, then for vehicles from eight to ten years old the reduction from 25% increases to 40%, and for vehicles from 10 to 20 years old, the reduction will be 65% instead of the current 40%, the minister said.
He added that for vehicles over 20 years old, taxes are now paid at the rate of 20 per cent of the prescribed amount. “Vehicles between 10 and 20 years old, which engines are over 2,000cc, will get the biggest reduction,” he said.
The minister also said that the registration tax of 20,387 dinars will be paid for vehicles between 2,000 and 2,500cc instead of the current 34,950 dinars, while the registration tax of 41,314 dinars will have to be paid for vehicles between 2,500 and 3,000cc instead of the current 70,824 dinars. Finally, instead of 146,382 dinars, 85,389 dinars will be paid for vehicles which engines are over 3,000cc.
