Francophonie Month starts on 8th March

The Francophonie Month will officially start on March 8 at the Palace of Serbia, with the speech from the French historian, journalist and former minister, who specializes in the history of politics, culture and media, Jean-Noel Jeanneney.

Francophonie Month is marked by French-speaking embassies and diplomatic representations in Serbia, in cooperation with Serbian cultural and educational institutions and will feature debates, exhibitions, concerts, film screenings, plays, workshops and talk rooms.

Serbia is an associate member of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF), which covers 88 countries with over a billion inhabitants.

This organization works very actively to promote the French language, but also to highlight the importance of multilingualism and cultural diversity. Its priorities are the promotion of peace, democracy and human rights, as well as the development of economic cooperation for the purpose of sustainable development.

Events for young people such as the French singing competition (semi-finals on March 9 in Belgrade, Niš and Novi Sad, finals on March 31 in Niš), Francophone Dictation (March 12 and 13) and Francophone horizons (visits to French-speaking embassies) will also take place during the Francophonie Month.
