Five business/economic events this week

  1. Inflation in the Eurozone

While there are some signs that inflation in the United States of America (US) may have peaked, eurozone price growth data – due to be released on Wednesday – is expected to show that price pressures remain strong. Namely, the consumer price index of the Eurozone reached 10.6 percent in October, which is five times more than the set goal of the European Central Bank of two percent.

At its October meeting, the ECB raised interest rates by 75 basis points to 1.5 percent, bringing the total increase since July to 200 basis points, in the fastest tightening of monetary policy to date.

Analysts estimate that the increase in interest rates at the next meeting of the European Central Bank on December 15 could be between 50 and 75 basis points.
