The possibility of paying via Google Pay, using an application and a phone, has been available in Serbia since yesterday.
Five banks (OTP, Procredit, Halkbank, Poštanska štedionica and Intesa) provide this service for their users in cooperation with Mastercard. Google Pay allows you to pay for services and make purchases simply by touching your phone to the POS terminal, i.e. the place provided on the device for card payment. The service was created by merging Google Wallet and Android Pay services and has been available in numerous countries around the world for years. The activation process is simple. Within the application store (Play Store), you need to download Google Wallet, where you need to enter the payment card data directly or by taking a picture of it. Once the verification is complete, you can proceed to the payment via Google Pay.
As this service is provided by MasterCard and Visa, it should be remembered that Procredit, OTP banka and Poštanska štedionica provide this service via MasterCard, while Intesa and Halkbank support Google Pay via Visa payment cards. According to the banks, Google Pay is completely safe. This way enables quick payment of services without removing the card from the wallet or entering the PIN code, by directly touching the phone to the payment device, which does not even require an internet connection.
