The film programme “Films on the Road”, organised by the Goethe-Institut in Belgrade, will be screened during June, July and September in ten cities across Serbia, including Čačak, Niš, Leskovac, Pančevo and Zaječar.
The programme brings a selection of contemporary German films from the GT Festival, giving audiences the opportunity to watch free screenings of works by directors such as Andreas Dresen and Christian Petzold.
As programme curator Sunčica Šido told Euronews Serbia, the aim is to bring high-quality European cinema closer to audiences in smaller communities and to encourage interest in contemporary German filmmaking.
The programme will feature nine films. In some cities, all nine titles will be screened, while in others the programme will be adapted to the technical capacities of local cultural centres.
“The ideal scenario, like the one in Čačak, which begins this evening, is to screen all nine films. However, in some locations it will not be possible to include every screening, but even in those situations we will still reach the audience,” Šido emphasised.
The selection focuses on leading figures of contemporary German cinema, including Andreas Dresen and Christian Petzold, whose films are frequently featured at European film festivals.
