Film about Marina Abramovic at the Belgrade Documentary Film Festival

A documentary film about one of the world’s most renowned artists, Marina Abramovic will be showcased at the 64th Belgrade Documentary and Short Film Festival.

The film titled “The Space in Between: Marina Abramovic and Brazil” was directed by Marco Del Fiol, and will be shown in the main hall of Dom Omladine on Friday, 31st March, at 9pm.

The film talks about Marina’s search for healing and artistic inspiration that takes place in Brazil. She visits various shamans, and participates in their sacred rituals, while, at the same time, discovering her own creative processes.

During her journey, she had many touching encounters with shamans and wise men from Brazilian villages and has explored her own boundary between art and spirituality. Among other things, the film features healing sessions with the medium John of God in Abadiania, herb healers in Chapada Dos Veadeiros, spiritual rituals at Vale Do Amanhecer in Brasilia, and Ayahuasca experience in Chapada Diamantina. The external trip triggers in Marina a profound introspective journey through memories, pain and past experiences.

A mixture between road movie and spiritual thriller, the documentary brings an open approach of the intimate creative process of one of this contemporary art icon.
