As part of its film programme, the Belgrade Youth Centre (Dom Omladine) is launching a new cycle entitled Film Anniversaries (Filmski Jubileji), which invites audiences to experience cinema in a different way – not only as entertainment, but also as a space for learning, exchange and critical thinking. The first screenings will begin on 11 February, at 6 PM.
Through film classics, significant anniversaries and stories about authors and events that have shaped the history of film and society, the cycle offers a wider audience the opportunity to discover the richness of cinematic art and its importance in contemporary culture.
Designed in particular to inspire young people, this programme of the Belgrade Youth Centre nurtures film literacy, encourages curiosity and dialogue, and creates a place where art, history and the experiences of new generations can meet and be shared. Admission to all lectures and screenings is free of charge.
The Film Anniversaries cycle is conceived as a space that, through lectures and screenings, connects the history of cinema with contemporary social and cultural contexts. The audience will have the opportunity to become acquainted with key filmmakers, iconic works and important turning points in film art, with expert introductions offering analysis of film trends, aesthetics and the broader cultural significance of the films shown.
The programme is intended for young people who wish to develop film and cultural literacy, as well as for anyone who wants to discover the classics of cinema.
