Fifth Novi Sad Theatre Games, 7–12 May in Novi Sad

The 5th Novi Sad Theatre Games – an international festival of professional theatres for children and young people – will take place from 7 to 12 May in Novi Sad, organised by the Youth Theatre.

Artists from around the world will perform on the stages of all three Novi Sad theatres – the Youth Theatre, the Serbian National Theatre, and the Novi Sad Theatre/Ujvideki Szinhaz – bringing engaging and important stories to local audiences.

In the competitive programme, selected by the festival’s Artistic Council – comprising actors Slavica Vučetić, Neda Danilović and Saša Latinović – nine performances will be presented. In addition, within the accompanying programme, conceived as a kind of showcase for festival guests, the hosts will stage four of their own productions.

All performances reflect contemporary theatrical trends, combining various art forms and theatre genres, as well as incorporating new technologies and techniques in order to connect more closely with modern young audiences. At the same time, they highlight the authenticity of local poetics, aesthetic practices and social contexts of the countries they come from, offering insight into the development and significance of theatre for children in those environments.

Following the festival opening, on 7 May at 8 p.m. on the Chamber Stage of the Serbian National Theatre, actors from the Youth Theatre will perform their production *On the Wolf’s Trail* as part of the accompanying programme, marking the beginning of this year’s festival activities.

The festival will close on 12 May with an awards ceremony at the Youth Theatre, starting at 8 p.m. More details are available at https://festivalnpi.co.rs/sr/program-srb .
