Fiat Serbia to start producing a new model in 2020?

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) Serbia has received two more points, thus confirming its ‘silver status’ which makes it eligible to start producing a new model soon – this is stated in the World Class Manufacturing report/programme.

As Glas Sumadije reports, the company now has a total of 68 points and is two points away from the golden status that the leading Fiat factories have. The Kragujevac-based factory is quite confident that it will obtain the golden status next year.

The very fact that the company has kept the silver status and gained another two points shows that the management of FCA is counting on the Kragujevac plant.

Pundits say that, if FCA is given the golden status, the production of a new model will not happen before 2020.

This year’s production at FCA Serbia will end on December 17th. Until then, the workers will be engaged in the harmonization of the production with the market demands. It is now quite certain that the number of produced cars in the Kragujevac plant this year will stand at 60,000 which is 10,000 vehicles less than last year.

However, the company’s management has not announced its production plan for 2019.
