Heads of the strike at the Fiat Plastic factory in Kragujevac, where almost all employees have been on strike for the past seven months, instead of talking to the staff of the Serbian Information Security Agency (BIA), will meet with PM Ana Brnabić to resolve the disputes with the parent company.
Since it was announced on Wednesday that a BIA agent had informed the president of Fiat Plastik’s independent trade union, Aleksandar Korać, by phone that they would be invited to the Agency’s premises to talk about the strike, yesterday they had a conversation with the deputy mayor of Kragujevac, Ivica Momčilović.
The president of the strike committee, Zoran Miljković, told the FoNet news agency soon afterwards that during the meeting it was agreed that the local authorities in Kragujevac would help organise the meeting with the Serbian Prime Minister. “We will definitely not go meet with the BIA and we have been told that there will be no more invitations from them to have a meeting,” Miljković added.
The Strike Committee expects an urgent meeting with the highest state representatives, in order to resolve the problems that the workers have by the end of August, i.e. before they return from the collective summer leave.
