Fiat announces a development of production in its factories in Serbia and Turkey

“As we announced in 2018, after Italy and Poland, the time will soon come to talk about future developments in our factories in Serbia and Turkey”, the letter sent by the CEO of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Group (FCA), Pietro Gorlier to the EMEA group (which includes Europe, the Mediterranean, North Africa and the Middle East) reads.

“It is obvious,” Gorlier points out in the letter, “that we are a global company and two years ago, in November 2018, when presenting the business plan for the company, I made it clear, that after the announcement of the projects implemented in Italy, we would subsequently work on our business in the countries in the EMEA region”.

“Our recent product launches and those that we plan to launch in the future, that are focused on electrification, are proof of this. In this regard, I would like to thank all those who have been involved in the launch of the production of the Jeep Renegade and the Compass 4xe in Melfi and the electric New Fiat 500 in Mirafiori. These important models are part of a market that is struggling but is on its road to recovery. For this reason, meeting industry deadlines was key to ensuring that commercial teams had all the tools they needed to tackle the market in the best possible way, ”writes Gorlier, noting that“ we see orders for the Jeep 4xe are growing daily and the press reviews are extremely positive; therefore, we are convinced that we have made the right choice ”.

The announcement adds that last week, the new Jeep Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid and the new Jeep Grand Wagoneer Concept were also presented at a virtual press conference. These are two very important models for the brand, which represent a further step in the process of expanding the range, including in the premium segments, as well as the commitment to offer electric options on all Jeep models in the coming years. It should also be noted that the first electric Fiat 500s is due to be launched soon.

According to Gorlier, Abarth will soon launch two spectacular special series – the exclusive Abarth 595 Scorpioneoro and the adrenalin-fuelled Abarth 595 Monster Energy Yamaha, which best reflect the dual soul of the brand: style and performance. The official international presentation of these models will take place today at a virtual press conference.
