Festivities continue in Belgrade and Novi Sad – cat show, gala concert and Isadora Duncan musical

It’s Thursday and time for our report about the cultural and entertainment events coming up in the next few days.

BELGRADE

Event: Cat Festival

Place: Dom Omladine, 22, Makedonska Street

Time: 12th and 13th January, from noon to 5 pm

The international cat show called Mrnjau Fest (Meow Festival) will take place over the weekend at Dom Omladine in Belgrade. The show is organized by the World Cat Federation and the LePETit Association and will feature a cat competition, creative workshops for children, musicals, music games and acting classes. Additionally, the visitors will be given an opportunity to provide a home for a cat with the help of the Veterinary Institute of Belgrade. Tickets are sold at 300 dinars, while admission is free for pre-school children. For more information about this unique show, please click here.

Event: New Year’s Gala Concert

Place: National Theatre

Time: 13th January, at 8 pm

The traditional New Year Gala Opera concert, which has been held since 1993, will take place at the Grand Hall of the National Theatre on Sunday, at 8 pm. The National Theatre soloists, orchestra, opera choir opera and ballet will perform with the special guest, the famous Serbian violinist Ilija Marinkovic. Ana Zorana Brajovic, Dejan Savic, Djordje Stankovic and Zorica Mitev Vojnovic will conduct the concert that will feature arias, duets, quartets, and choral performances from famous operas. Serbian actor Milenko Pavlov will be the concert host.

 

NOVI SAD

Event: Musical “Who is Afraid of Isadora Duncan?”

Place: Matica Srpska Gallery

Time: 13th January, at 5 and 7 pm

The Viva Dance Academy will stage a dance and music spectacle dedicated to the iconic American dancer and performer, Isadora Duncan on Sunday, 13th January, as a part of a cultural programme that takes place under the auspices of the project Celebration of the New Year 7527. The musical is inspired by Duncan’s autobiography „My Life“, and is directed by Gea Gojak. Forty young dancers from Viva Dance Academy will perform during the musical that will also feature the students of the Novi Sad Art Academy. Ballerina Una Durakovic will potray Isadora Duncan in the musical.
