The biggest film festival in Serbia, FEST, will most likely be held from April 2-11, while the 30th edition of the Belgrade Summer Festival (BELEF) is scheduled for the end of June or the beginning of July, the Belgrade Festival Centre (CEBEF) has announced.
FEST is set for April based on projections that, come April, the positive consequences of the vaccination against COVID-19, which is gaining momentum in Serbia, will be felt and that the coronavirus contagion will subdue enough to hold the festival.
“The plan is to screen FEST’s programme in smaller cinemas, but with the limited number of screenings, from morning to late evening, in order to take full advantage of the seat occupancy,” the press release states.
The Belgrade Summer Festival (BELEF) is scheduled for the end of June or the beginning of July, but with a redesigned concept and in the future, the emphasis will be much more on theatre.
CEBEF believes that, in this way, it will be able to bring to life last year’s idea of bringing together theatres from all over Serbia, not only from Belgrade, “in a kind of extension of the regular theatre season and selection of the most attractive plays that will take place outdoors in different parts of Belgrade”.
