The biggest film festival in Serbia, FEST will take place from 23rd February to 4th March under the slogan “Come Closer”.
During the festival, there will be a total of 116 premieres. The audiences will also be able to see 10 classic films, while the Hungarian film director Istvan Szabo will receive the Belgrade Winner Award for his exceptional contribution to the world of film, and the renowned Serbian actress, Neda Arneric.
‘Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri’ will officially open the Festival, while the Polish film “Mug”, directed by Małgorzata Szumowska, will close this year’s FEST on 4th March.
Several contenders for this year’s Oscar will also been screened including ‘The Shape of Water’ directed by Guillermo del Toro, Luca Guadagnino ‘Call me by Your Name’, Paul Thomas Anderson’s ‘Phantom Thread’, ‘You Were Never Really Here’ directed by Lynne Ramsay, Greta Gerwig’s ‘Lady Bird’ and others.
Sixteen films from Hungary, Denmark, Iran, China, Argentina, Lebanon, Greece, Croatia, the USA, Russia, Italy and Switzerland will compete for the main award, and the winners will be decided by a jury comprised of Milco Mancevski, Jovan Jovanovic, Elma Tataragic, Mila Turajlic and Gordan Kicic.
As for the festival’s locations, films will be screened all over Belgrade including in the Vlada Divljan Institution of Culture, the Municipality of Palilula, the Cine Grand cinema in Rakovica and others.
The tickets will go on sale on 3rd February and will cost between 300 and 500 dinars.
