Femi Kuti to give free concert in Belgrade

During BELEF, Femi Kuti, the famous Nigerian musician born and raised in London, will give a free concert at Kalemegdan (Donji Grad) on 13th September, at 20:00, accompanied by over 70 musicians.

The Nigerian musician, also dubbed the Prince of Afrobeat and the worthy successor to his father, Fela Kuti, is again performing in Belgrade, this time accompanied by the band “Positive Force” and the Macedonian Philharmonic, comprising of over 70 musicians.

This grandiose project had its premiere in Skopje in June this year, with 15,000 people watching. The concert will feature Femi’s biggest hits from all of his ten albums, four of which were nominated for the Grammy Award.

The Belgrade-based band “Igor Vince & His Drum, Brass and Keys” (comprising of musicians from Serbia, Cuba and Brazil) will perform as an opening act for Kuti. Igor’s music is inspired by genres such as reggae, funk, latino, Afrobeat, and soul.

In addition to the unusual talent he possesses, Igor has played with the most famous bands around the world and with the icon of African music by Femi Kuti, as the first musician in the band in the history of Kuta’s family that is not of African origin.
