Famous actor Rade Serbedzija to open 2nd Viminacium Festival

The famous actor Rade Serbedzija will officially open the 2nd Viminacium Festival with his concert on June 24th. The Festival will take place at the ancient Roman town and legionary fort, Viminacium in Stari Kostolac, with theatres from all over Serbia and the region participating. The Festival closes on June 30th.

The Ulysses Theatre from Brioni and the Zagreb Youth Theatre will perform first at the Festival on June 25th. The ancient play Bacchae was written by a tragedian from the ancient Athens, Euripides, and directed by Lenka Udovicki.

The next day, the Hungarian National Theatre from Timisoara will stage the play called Sonnet 666, by William Shakespeare, and directed by Kokan Mladenovic. The same director will also direct the play that will be staged the next night, “The Bridge on the River Drina”, based on the book written by a Nobel Prize winner Ivo Andric, and performed by the Serbian National Theatre from Novi Sad.

The festival will also feature an exhibition of mythical paintings by Danilo Vuksanovic and a concert by the acoustic jazz band called Jazznova.
