The newest Shanghai Academic Ranking of World Universities shows that, out of all higher learning institutions in Serbia, the Faculty of Agriculture from Zemun is the most successful.
In the food technology field, this faculty occupies 35th place, i.e. it is nine places better than some of the most prestigious universities in the world.
The Shanghai Academic Ranking of World Universities is the most prestigious report of its kind in the world and there are only 500 universities on it, i.e. just 2% of all universities in the world. The 500 universities are ranked in 47 scientific fields. In the food technology field, the Belgrade University ranks better than even Harvard or Oxford.
Out of all faculties of the Belgrade University, only the Faculty of Agriculture has a food technology major. The main criteria for ranking on the Shanghai list is the number of published scientific papers in international magazines and the number the findings of a certain university or faculty have been quoted and referenced.
In terms of overall ranking on the Shanghai List, Belgrade University ranks 201st out of 300 universities which is 20 places higher compared to last year’s list. Out of regional universities, only Ljubljana University ranks higher.
