Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia and Minister of Culture and Information, Maja Gojković, has officially opened the Milena Pavlović Barilli: A Painter, 15 Photographs, 30 Works of Art exhibition at the Italian Cultural Institute in Belgrade.
At the opening, she said that the exhibition offers a new perspective on the artistic work of one of Serbia’s most important artists and confirms that Milena’s work is timeless and as such is an inexhaustible inspiration for painters, writers, designers and other creators.
“Milena, daughter of the famous Italian writer and music critic, Bruno Barilli, and Danica Pavlović from Požarevac, symbolically connects Serbia and Italy here tonight at the Italian Cultural Institute in Belgrade. The universal power of her work is still a bond that strengthens the cultural ties between our two countries,” said the Culture Minister, adding that the Serbian artist, despite her short life, has become something of an icon of the cultural world between the two world wars.
