Exhibition of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec’s paintings in Novi Sad

An exhibition of the famous French artist Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec opened yesterday at the Svilara culture centre in Novi Sad. This is the first exhibition of works of this eminent artist in Novi Sad which will be opened by July 20th.

Toulouse-Lautrec is known for his realistic and brutally honest paintings. He got famous when he started to do posters featuring the dancers from Moulin Rouge.

“Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec was the first painter to make a poster as a means of expression and promotion of cultural events, plus, he was one of the most important representatives of Impressionism. Through this exhibition, we are bringing the heart of artistic Paris, Montmartre to Novi Sad, the 2021 European Capital of Culture,” said Violeta Djerkovic from the Svilara culture centre.

A series of culture events depicting the time period in which this renowned French artist lived such as, concerts and film screenings will accompany the exhibition “Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec”.

The guided tour of the exhibition will be available on 6th, 13th and 20th July, at 8 and 9 pm.
