Events in Belgrade and Novi Sad this weekend

As of today, and every Thursday onwards, Serbian Monitor will keep informing you about the upcoming cultural and entertainment events in Belgrade, Novi Sad and other Serbian towns.


Event: Premiere the film ‘Murder on the Orient Express’

Place: Cineplexx Cinema at Usce Shopping Mall in Belgrade and in cinemas across the country

Time: 9th November

The remake of the eponymous classic film, based Agatha Christie’s novel, stars Kenneth Branagh, as the famous detective Hercule Poirot, Judi Dench, Michelle Pfeiffer, Johnny Depp, Penelope Cruz, and Willem Dafoe. ‘Murder on the Orient Express’ is a stylish and suspenseful mystery. It tells a story of thirteen stranded strangers and one man’s race to solve the puzzle before the murderer strikes again.

Event: Concert of the Red Army’s Alexandrov Choir from Moscow

Place: Sava Centre, Belgrade

Time: 10th November, at 8 pm

The Alexandrov Ensemble (commonly known as the Red Army Choir) is an official army choir consisting of over 200 members of the Russian armed forces. Founded during the Soviet era, the ensemble consists of a male choir, an orchestra, and a dance ensemble. The Ensemble has entertained audiences both in Russia and throughout the world, performing a range of music including folk tunes, hymns, opera arias and popular music. The group’s repertoire has included The Volga Boatmen’s SongKatyushaKalinka, and Ave Maria.

Event: Performances by Recondite and DJ Tennis

Place: Drugstore, Belgrade

Time: 11th November

Founder and A&R of Life and Death, Manfredi Romano, aka DJ Tennis, grew up tour-managing punk bands and organising left-field music events in Italy around the turn of the Millennium. Having completed his studies in computer science at the University of Pisa, Manfredi went on to form DAZE, Italy’s first booking agency solely devoted to electronic music. As a respected producer, Romano consistently channels his past relationships with post-rock luminaries such as Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Tortoise and Fugazi into intricately synthesised electronic constellations. Fine chef and restaurant owner, Tennis splits his time between Miami and Barcelona.
