European Film Festival in Pirot

The City of Pirot, the European House Niš, and the Pirot Cultural Centre invite you to the grand opening of the European Film Festival, which will take place on Tuesday, 7 July, starting at 6:00 pm, at the Pirot Cultural Centre cinema.

The festival will be opened by the European Union Ambassador to Serbia, Andreas von Beckerath, and Miloš Colić (Deputy Mayor of the City of Pirot), followed by a screening of the film Greice (Brazil/Portugal, 2024), directed by Leonardo Mouramateus.

The film follows 21-year-old Brazilian art student Greice, who lives in Lisbon but returns to her native Brazil after unexpected events, trying to find her place between two countries, her family, and her own expectations. Through a story of identity, coming of age, and migration, the film raises universal questions about belonging and the search for home.

The European Film Festival brings a selection of contemporary European cinematic works to audiences in Serbia, offering an opportunity to explore different cultures, social issues, and filmmakers from across Europe through film art.

The European Film Festival is a European Commission project aimed at supporting the quality enhancement of festivals organised by European Union Delegations. The project is managed by a consortium consisting of the Goethe-Institut (lead partner), the Institut Français, and Cineuropa. In Serbia, the European Film Festival is implemented by the Delegation of the European Union to Serbia, in cooperation with the European Houses in Belgrade, Niš, Novi Sad, and Novi Pazar.

Admission to the screening is free.
