Eight new films in Serbian cinemas

As of Thursday, eight new movie blockbusters will be screened at cinemas across Serbia.


Starring Charlize Theron, Joel Edgerton and David Oyelowo, Gringo is a dark comedy mixed with white-knuckle action and dramatic intrigue, which explores the battle of survival for businessman Harold Soyinka when he finds himself crossing the line from law-abiding citizen to wanted criminal. The film is directed by Nash Edgerton.

“The Titan”

A sci-fi movie, set in the near future when the Earth is no longer inhabitable, The Titan talks about a military family that takes part in a ground-breaking experiment on genetic evolution and space exploration. It stars Sam Worthington and Taylor Schilling and it is directed by Lennart Ruff.

“Gaston Lagaffe”

A French film, directed by Pierre-François Martin-Laval, and starring Théo Fernandez, Pierre-François Martin-Laval and Arnaud Ducret, showcases Gaston, the King of Clumsy, who lacks common sense and who, thanks to his almost supernatural powers, constantly casuses mayhem that drives his boss mad.

 “Double Lover”

Another French film, directed by François Ozon, talks about Chloe, a fragile young woman, who falls in love with her psychoanalyst, Paul. A few months later she moves in with him, but soon discovers that her lover is concealing a part of his identity. The film stars Marine Vacth, Jérémie Renier and Jacqueline Bisset.

“Bikini Moon”

For all fans of the so-called “fake” documentary films, this is the one to see. Directed by Milcho Manchevski, the film centres around a charismatic but mentally unstable vet who captures the attention of a documentary film crew who are ready to exploit her story for their own shot at independent movie fame. Condola Rashad, Sarah Goldberg and Will Janowitz play the main roles.

“Grace Jones: Bloodlight and Bami”

A documentary film of one of the most iconic singers and style figures of the 1980s, Grace Jones, is directed by Sophie Fiennes. The film includes Grace’s unique performances singing iconic hits such as Slave To The Rhythm, Pull Up To The Bumper, as well as the more recent autobiographical tracks of Williams’ Bloods and Hurricane. Jones is due to perform at this year’s EXIT.

“The Bride”

This Russian film is a treat for the fans of horror.  When a new bride travels with her husband to his ancestral home, she is subjected to a mysterious wedding ceremony. The film is directed by Svyatoslav Podgayevskiy.

“Gnome Alone”

This animated film talks about Chloe who finds that garden gnomes, at her new home, are not what they seem to be, so she must decide between the pursuit of a desired high school life and taking up the fight against the Troggs.
