‘Ederlezi Rising’ the best Serbian film at FEST

Film director Lazar Bodroza is the recipient of the Belgrade Winner Award for the Best Serbian Film at the 46th FEST for his film ‘Ederlezi Rising’.

The jury, comprised of Lordan Zafranovic (from Croatia), Damjan Kozole (Slovenia), composer Alen Sinkauz (Croatia), and Serbian actors Milos Timotijevic and Katarina Radivojevic, said in their explanation that ‘Ederlezi Rising’ is a genre-innovative and courageous step in the Serbian film, precise in its realization, consistently and professionally guided from start to finish, and “the most complete Serbian film” at the Festival.

Porn star Jessica Stojadinovic Stoya received the Best Actress Award for her role in ‘Ederlezi Rising’ for her “perfectly controlled acting” and “by managing to depict the lead female character of Nimani following the exact vision of the film director with a precise acting expression, personality and charisma”, the jury said.

‘Ederlezi Rising’ depicts an intimate relationship between a human and an android while testing the boundaries of human nature.

The Special Jury Award went to the Mexican documentary “The Devil’s Freedom”, directed by Everardo Gonzalez, who “through simple, but in fact ingenious, initial setting on the topic, films the mysterious actions of an activist in this accentuated, socially-conscious documentary film”.
