EBRD contemplating giving Belgrade airport 100mln EUR loan

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is considering granting a 100-million-euro loan to Belgrade airport’s concessionaire, and 80 million euro towards the construction of the Nis-Merdare motorway – the EBRD Director for Transport, Sue Barrett said today.

“The EBRD is currently considering granting a loan of up to 100 million euro for the concessionaire of Belgrade Airport this year. This loans will bring the total amount of loans approved by the EBRD to the transport sector in Serbia to one billion euro”, Barrett said at the Serbian Railways, following the signing of the agreement on supplying the guarantee for the Project of the Technical-Passenger Station Zemun – Phase 2, worth 22 million euro.

The agreement on the 25-year-concession of the Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport was signed on March 22nd with the French company Vinci, in the presence of Prime Minister Ana Brnabic and other government ministers.

The total nominal value of this transaction is around 1.46 billion euro and it includes a one-off compensation, minimum annual concession fees and capital investments.

“We are currently working with the Corridors of Serbia Company on a new loan in the amount of 80 million euro to be spent on construction of the Nis-Merdare motorway, which is supposed to be granted in 2019”, Barrett added.

She also said that she was hopeful that the EBRD would also secure additional financing for the railway sector in 2019, and thanked Serbian ministries of construction and finance on the cooperation on railway projects.
