The EBRD has granted a 17-million-euro loan to the Belgrad authorities that will finance the construction of a pedestrian-cycling bridge stretching from Novi Beograd (Block 70) to Ada Ciganlija. The total construction costs are estimated at 20 million euros.
According to data published by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the approval date for this investment is June 28, 2024.
The bridge will promote active and micro-mobility and improved connectivity within the city of Belgrade, as well as contribute to more active mobility in urban transportation, reduction of traffic congestion and promotion of a clean, sustainable and integrated approach to mobility in the city of Belgrade – the EBRD says.
Encouraging walking and cycling through improved facilities was identified as a priority action for the City of Belgrade within its Green City Action Plan (GCAP). Construction of a pedestrian-cycling bridge over the Sava River is part of the City’s strategic commitment to encourage bicycles as a clean transport mode, improve accessibility and connect the most populated area of Belgrade (Novi Beograd) with the City’s main natural recreational zone (Ada Ciganlija).
