Dušan Bajatović and another suspect doctoral thesis

After Finance Minister Siniša Mali, Defence Minister Nebojša Stefanović, a member of the SNS party, Aleksandar Šapić and the National Bank of Serbia Governor, Jorgovanka Tabaković, director-general of Srbijagas, Dušan Bajatović will also soon receive the academic title of Doctor of Science.

As reported by N1, his doctoral thesis can be currently perused publicly, and many established doctors of science are, to say the least, amazed by his references.

If Nikola Tesla were a contemporary of Dušan Bajatović, the question is which of these two scientists would be the best. Some scientists are surprised that the director of the national gas supplier, Srbijagas, is about to become a Doctor of Science at the Faculty of Technical Sciences (FTN) in Novi Sad, where, they say, they have never seen him attend a single lecture.

“I have never met Dušan Bajatović, not only at exams and lectures but also in the corridors and in the student service, which are spaces frequented by all PhD students. He was never seen at the Faculty’s premises, nor did my colleagues ever notice him,” one student told N1. Away from the eyes of his colleagues, however, the director of Srbijagas seems to have ‘worked’ hard.

Dušan Bajatović passed all the exams in the Industrial Engineering / Management Engineering curriculum during his doctoral studies with an average grade of 10.00 (the highest grade), according to the assessment of the eligibility of candidates for doctoral degrees.

In just seven months, he finished his 329-page doctoral thesis on the topic of the transition models and forecasts of the natural gas supply system. At the same time, as an author and co-author in the same year (2020), he published 3 scientific papers in the most prestigious journals of the so-called SCI list, one of them belonging to the M21A category (this category denotes “Excellent international journal, which is among the top 10% in its field”).

“No dean or other professors from the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad have ever published their works in this category. Because Bajatović allegedly did, that means that he is an elite scientist,” says a PhD student at the FTN.

Less than 10% of the world’s scientists have published a scientific article in a journal in that category.

For instance, Vladimir Obradovic, a professor at the Faculty of Organisational Sciences from Belgrade, has written 150 scientific articles, two of them were published in the M21A category, but it took him two years to write each.
