The biggest event on water, not only in Serbia but also in Europe, the 27th regatta on the Drina River began yesterday, near Bajina Basta, after a year-and-a-half recess.
The most important part of the event is the descent on the river from Lake Perućac to Rogačica, in which around 1,500 rubber dinghies and boats participate every year. The event is also accompanied by concerts, with Aco Pejović and Dženan Lončarević performing this year.
Yesterday, the first day of the event was reserved for the souvenir, handicrafts, honey and brandy fair which took place in Bajina Basta. Today, there is the traditional event of cooking fish chowder, which is held near the Vrelo River in Perućac, which is only 365 metres long.
One of the most important events of the regatta are the concerts along the Drina, which gather tens of thousands of people from all over Serbia and the region every year. The fourth and the last day of the event, is reserved for the regatta on the Drina, i.e. the descent down the river from Perućac to Rogačica. As every year, interest is great and a significant number of boats and dinghies are expected to take part.
