The Croatian National Theatre (HNK) from Zagreb will perform their play „Wax People“ on the Ljuba Tadic’s stage of Belgrade’s Yugoslav Drama Theatre (JDP) on Thursday, 31st May.
Written by Mate Matisic and directed by Janusz Kica, this dramatic triptych comprises of three independent and different pieces, with the playwright, screenwriter and rock guitarist Viktor playing the main character in all of them. Goran Grgić, Ksenija Marinković, Alma Prica, Bojan Navojec, Ana Begić, Milan Pleština, Ivan Jončić, Slavko Juraga, Luka Dragić, Siniša Popović, Ivan Glowatzky, Silvio Vovk, Kristijan Potočki, Alen Šalinović, Jelena Perčin, Iva Mihalić, Damir Markovina, Vanja Matujec, Katija Zubčić, Barbara Vicković, Olga Pakalović, Ivana Boban and Dora Lipovčan star in the play.
The Polish theatre director, Janusz Kica graduated theatrology from the University of Krakow. In 1981, after completing his studies, he went to West Germany. In Cologn, he enrolled in theatrology and art history studies. In 1990, he directed his first play at ZeKaeM in Zagreb. In addition to Germany and Croatia, he directed in Austria (Vienna) and Slovenia (Celje, Maribor, Nova Gorica, Piran). Kica also directed Biljana Srbljanovic’s play „Skakavci“ in the Zagreb Youth Theater. He is the recipient of received numerous awards.
Studio NUMEN and Ivana Jonke are in charge of the set design for „Wax People“, who also did the set design for the plays „Metamorphosis“, „Hamlet“ and „Einstein’s Dreams“, also at the JDP.
In 2018, the Yugoslav Drama Theatre is also due to have a guest appearance in the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb with the performance of Ivan Cankar’s „King of Betajnova“, directed by Milan Neskovic.
