Prime Minister Ana Brnabić announced that the government’s Crisis Response Team will recommend citizens take the third dose of the coronavirus vaccine on 1st August.
Brnabic also said that the national vaccination body will give its opinion on the third dose by 23rd July, after which the Crisis Response Team will, in turn, address citizens. According to her, the national vaccination body is currently conducting research based on the studies of manufacturers, the experiences of other countries, but also the experience gained in Serbia.
As for vaccinations, she said that at the moment 48.6% of adult citizens have been vaccinated and that immunization in Serbia is rather slow.
Brnabic also said that Loznica and Kraljevo have vaccinated over 50% of their population and that there were nine other towns that are about to pass that threshold.
“But we need more vaccinated people, particularly among young people,” she said, adding that yesterday students from other countries (like Bosnia and Herzegovina) are coming to Serbia to be vaccinated, while Serbian students refuse to use that opportunity.
“I am afraid of the next pandemic tide,” Brnabić expressed her worry and added that in areas where the vaccination rate was high, medical facilities were not under great pressure.
