The construction of the missing railway station building is a step closer to realization. The station will be integrated with the bus station and other forms of transportation—bus and tram systems—and there will also be a metro station for the third metro line next to the railway station, as stated by the officials.
The Minister of Construction, Transport, and Infrastructure, Goran Vesić, signed a contract with Wei Jiming, the Director for Europe of the Shandong Company, for the construction of the railway station complex in Novi Beograd, including the reconstruction of the bridge structure.
The value of the contract, as mentioned, is EUR 138 million, of which EUR 70 million will be allocated for the construction of the new station, and nearly EUR 40 million for the reconstruction of the bridge structure. It was not specified how the remaining EUR 28 million will be spent.
“Our friends from Shandong will start the work no later than the beginning of next year, if not sooner, and the station will be completed by December 2026,” Vesić stated on his Instagram profile.
