Contemporary German films to be screened in Novi Sad

The Contemporary German Filmmakers film programme, featuring screenings of three powerful and stylistically distinct works that uniquely shed light on individuals and the society in which they live, will take place from 20 to 22 April at SKCNS (5, Vladimira Perića Valtera Street).

The film “The Golden Glove” will be shown on 20 April, “Victoria” is scheduled for 21 April, and the programme concludes with a screening of “Perfect Days” on 22 April.

All screenings begin at 7 pm, the films are subtitled in Serbian, and admission is free.

“The film ‘The Golden Glove’ takes us into the dark margins of society, raising questions about violence, loneliness and dehumanisation. ‘Victoria’ brings an urban, dynamic story told in a single continuous shot, capturing the pulse of the city and a generation living in the moment. Finally, ‘Perfect Days’ by the cult director Wim Wenders offers a quiet, contemplative counterbalance, a poetic meditation on everyday life, rituals and the beauty of small things,” says Slobodan Branković, editor of the SKCNS film programme.

All three films are set in an urban environment in which the city is not merely a backdrop but an active participant, a mirror of the inner states of the main characters and their life paths. While in the first two films the city pulses with chaos, violence and uncertainty, in the third that same urban everyday life is transformed into a space of silence, order and contemplation.
