Bifacial solar power plants are becoming an increasingly popular choice due to their ability to collect solar rays bouncing off the ground and produce electricity more efficiently than power plants with single-sided panels.
The MT-Komex Company has been entrusted with the construction of the first bifacial solar power plant in Serbia, which will also be the largest solar power plant in the country at the moment.
The power plant will be located on the premises of the Toyo Tyres Company.
“Toyo Tyres’ global goal is to become carbon neutral and investing in renewable energy sources is the best choice. This is the right time for us to set up a solar power plant in Serbia because the laws have changed, so we can acquire prosumer status, and we have a large area of land at our disposal,” the company says.
The solar power plant will cover 10 to 15 percent of Toyo Tyres’ annual electricity needs; the tire industry consumes a lot of electricity and is therefore under great pressure to decarbonize as soon as possible.
The company also announced that tire production will be launched in late July, while the entire equipment, together with the solar power plant, will be operational by the year-end.
