The construction of a new factory for manufacturing graphite electrodes intended for the steel and metal industry has been completed in Merošina, with the Serbian-Chinese company Malbeks Karbon behind the investment.
The investors state that this is the first factory in Serbia that will produce graphite electrodes for the needs of the metallurgical industry, as reported by nistv.rs. The new production facility spans approximately 1,200 square metres, while around two million euros have been invested in its construction.
The factory is a significant investment for this municipality, as it brings new jobs and launches a production line that is the first of its kind in Serbia.
According to announcements, more than 30 workers should be employed in the first phase, with the potential for further production expansion and an increase in headcount.
The official opening of the factory is expected following the completion of all preparatory activities and the arrival of the Chinese partners.
Statements from Merošina emphasise that this investment represents an important step for the development of the local economy, job creation, and the strengthening of industrial manufacturing in this part of the Nišava District.
