Construction of the Chinese Culture Centre started today in Belgrade and the construction works were officiated by the Belgrade Mayor, Sinisa Mali and the Chinese Ambassador to Serbia, Mr. Li Manchang.
This will be the first Chinese cultural centre in Balkans. The works will cost 45 million EUR and the location is the former building of the Chinese Embassy in Novi Beograd. The Centre is being built by the Empiret Company, and it is supposed to open in 18 months’ time.
The Chinese Ambassador Li Manchang said that the company building the Centre was a large corporation, and once the Centre was finished, the visitors would be able to learn much more about the Chinese culture.
Presenting the project, the director of the company Empiret, Li Zhicheng, said that the 32,000-m2 building would have two underground levels and eight floors.
The ground floor will have a hall and classrooms where people will be able to learn about the Chinese culture, while the first floor will contain an exhibition hall, an entertainment hall and an environmentally friendly space.
Zhicheng also said that the Centre would be a proof of the Serbian-Chinese friendship and a platform for the deepening of the cooperation and the bilateral relations. He added that Empiret planned to invest in a number of projects in Serbia.
